Our vision is to have healthy, diverse and sustainable ecological corridors throughout the western grasslands. We respect and acknowledge the cultural values of the Bunurong, Wadawurrung and Wurundjeri Woi wurrung people as we work side by side to care for this country.

The Line

The main purpose of Line is to implement measures for fauna sensitive roads and infrastructure for animal movement within the corridors. refer to 'conceptual steps for designing corridors' and 'Fauna sensitive road design manual'. Consider the need for fencing or other forms of physical barriers to keep people or livestock out of the corridor in certain situations. The fencing and infrastructure catalog lists three types of fencing summarized in different areas of the corridor depending on the geographical conditions and needs. Protective fences are also the basic fences used in most corridor areas: they prevent people or livestock from entering the corridor and protect the flora and fauna in the corridor from damage. Guidance fences are usually set up near roads: they are used to guide animals along a specific path and help them return to the corridor. Exclusion fences: isolate specific species from the biological corridor and deter invasive species.

The Field

In the design of the biocorridor, we merge both linear and landscape views, trying to create and open up a space that allows particular species to move through the landscape on a large scale. We explore the movement, pathways and transport.the bike road and walking road along the biodiversity corridors that people can experience the grassland. ecological and semi-natural view would attracting people to come in and use this grassland. the small pond with Knobby club-rush around provide a particular environment for the Amphibians,. And the kangaroo grass in the center of the corridor encourage mammals settled. And the Moo-nah along the corridor edge fencing area provide a shelter for bird. These local fauna is attracted and encouraged to move in the corridor.

The Shed

The shed has been transformed into a multipurpose center that offers various modes of transportation including a train station, tram charging station, bike garage, and car parking. People can take a train or drive to the Little River station and then switch to a trackless tram or ride bicycles to explore the western plains. The multipurpose center is divided into east and west sections, connected by a pedestrian bridge. The main entrances are located on the south and west sides, with nearby car parking. Trees have been planted near the hub to act as barriers and minimize the impact on the wildlife and plants in the protected area of the Little River Reserve. To ensure safety and traffic efficiency, bicycle lanes have been designed on both sides of the road, with barriers separating them from the main road.

EPHEMERA“Ephemera are transitory creations which are not meant to be retained or preserved. Its etymological origins extend to Ancient Greece, with the common definition of the word being: the minor transient documents of everyday life.”

PROPOSAL
Moments and memories, crossing paths with ecology, geology, astrology, and, most intrinsically, the ground.

The spaces of recreation and play in contact with the line, and conditions of memory of the landscape as well as future restoration with the landscape. The field, the social nature, is the means of re-connecting people, outdoor leisure, and ownership of the Western Plains.

The Line is a trajectory unbound by time and a medium of public space in the landscape for people to transport to and from the Western Plains. It permeates into the field, an envelope, an interior extension, materially responding to the ground conditions.

Designed to exact a temporal experience within the Grassland fields; what makes these moments of play actively intertwined with deep time, yet unbound by time itself, is their immediate dialogue with the strange and the deep dynamics of nature’s conditions: wet ground, soft texture, natural forms of rock.

Our sheds are constantly conversing with the landscape and those who occupy the spaces at any given time. The idea of the ephemeral informs our critique of permanency in the realm of public use structures. Our sheds live to serve the community. The lightweight construction of the tensile tent facilitates the opening and closing and allows it to be reshaped or relocated.
