..2077

"Surface water has always been extracted to irrigate fields and groundwater through bores, that exist along the course of the ancient crustacean period river forming a dynamic relationship with surface activities - a relationship in which water is always present."

It is now the year 2077, The decade of the decayed surroundings - a drought era. The river has been recognized as a sentient entity, holding inherent legal rights to safeguard its well-being and preservation. These rights empower it to challenge activities that harm its ecosystem, protecting it from pollution, diversion, and exploitation.

Granting the river legal personhood has heightened respect for its significance and vital role in sustaining life, particularly as more people have settled along its banks, establishing the “Yulluk Community”.

land acquisitions involve transforming golf courses and racecourses into public use land that support native species, promoting biodiversity and conserving water usage. Lagoons are being recreated to act as natural filters for the river water, while also providing recreational water sites within the grasslands for the yulluk community.

There are modifications to land management and water conservations. Water regulation measures are implemented to monitor and maintain the overall health of the river. Existing treatment facilities are adapted to filter water, making it free and safe to drink for the Yulluk community. Moreover, recycled water is distributed for household use, creating a closed loop system that minimizes water wastage.

Water taxis have been introduced as the primary means of public transportation within the Yulluk community, offering an efficient mode of travel along the river. Through these interventions, we aim to enhance land preservation, water sustainability, and public well-being for the Yulluk community.

“Believing the respect and honor of the lands, water, and all living things falls under every person moral allegiance.”
